Summer 2009

Page Photo 2009 was my first full time summer with YD Adventures Oregon. It was a summer filled with confirmation that this is where He wants me to be.
It is difficult to determine what constitutes a “successful” summer – safety, number of decisions, qualifications, financial. It is a topic of much debate in the office as we evaluate the summer. It is difficult to talk about the decisions that were made during the summer, because it is too easy to sound like you are taking credit when, in fact, all of the glory must go to God. It is only through His work and His showing up that hearts are touched and lives are changed.
I have made myself available to God and I have asked Him to use me and the gifts that He has given me as He sees fit. Everything that took place on the trips I was involved in is purely God working out his plan through my life.
That said, I had the awesome privilege to be present for and to be used by God while three boys made first time decisions for Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior. I am blown away that God would use me in such a way! I am truly not worthy of such honor, but through His grace and mercy.
Yes, the summer was safe. Yes, I did qualify to be used in several new ways. Yes, I did achieve full funding and was able to begin full time service. Yes, there were many decisions made for Christ. I view my summer as being a success because I made myself available to the living God and I was, in fact, used by Him.
