The Salmon River Adventure Base Capital Project
Youth Dynamics is expanding its adventure-based ministry to Grangeville, Idaho—the Salmon River Adventure Base. The project overview is to purchase an existing rafting outfitter business which includes a 1.22-acre property with outbuildings, raft, and camping equipment, and an unlimited Lower Salmon use permit. The project also includes renovating the site for the purposes of providing a launch point for local ministry as well as an equipment and trip prep site for all Youth Dynamics ministry locations.
This opportunity has a three-fold benefit:
- The Salmon River is one of Youth Dynamics’ most popular extended adventure trips. Currently, we run a 6-7 day trip specifically to youth, 2 times a year—up to 5 times with special permissions— from mid-July to mid-August. This project allows the logistical support for Washington, Oregon, and Idaho ministries as well as future ministry expansion into Montana and beyond. Storing equipment, providing accommodations for out-of-state participants, and just 20 minutes from put-in are just a few of the benefits of having this base.
- This property includes an unlimited, unconditional permit which allows Youth Dynamics to run as many trips as staffing and equipment allow. Currently, Youth Dynamics has a conditional use permit restricting the age range (youth only) as well as the number of trips. With an unconditional-use permit, the ministry can invite youth on more trips throughout the season, as well as invite current and prospective donors to experience the ministry. This permit allows the opportunity to cast a wider net to a larger population of people and groups, furthering the ministry’s impact.
- This property will be the base of operations for many new local ministries located in the central Idaho region. Youth Dynamics is praying for opportunities to expand ministry locations which include Grangeville, White Bird, Clearwater, and the Nez Perce Reservation.
