What is a recurring gift and how often are they processed?

How often are recurring gifts processed?

I had a recurring gift in the old processor, Stewardship Technologies/Egiving/CDM+. Why don’t I see it in the new donor portal?
Unfortunately, the old processor was unwilling to transfer data directly into the new database where the donor portal is located. This is actually a safeguard for your personal financial information. Your payment information was not available to set up new recurring gifts in the new database. So, your previous recurring gifts were manually entered into the new database and as such they were all listed as one-time gifts.
I have set up new recurring gifts in the donor portal. Will my card be charged twice – once for the old processor and once for the new processor?
Our account with the old processor is scheduled to be cancelled as of May 1st, 2024.
Please call our main office at 360-757-1337 or email us at donations@yd.org and we will cancel the old gift in the old processor. After May 1st no transactions will be processed through the old processor.
I just made a donation but it’s not showing in my account. Why isn’t it in my account?
All donations must be reviewed and approved by our Office Administrator before being loaded into your account within our donor portal. Depending on the day of the week, it may take anywhere from 24-48 hours before you see your donation appear in your account.
I just gave a donation online and began a new donation, but it is not going through. Why is this happening?
First, please completely close out of the donation form, refresh your browser, then try again.
Second, wait a minute before trying again. Our processor may be seeing your actions as potential fraud. When you complete donations in rapid succession (one right after the other), the processor sees this as fraud and will not allow more gifts after the 4th transaction.
How do I update my card or bank information for my recurring gift?
Option #1 – Create an account to login to and manage your gift yourself. Learn how to update your payment information in our new Donor Portal HERE.
Option #2 – Call our main office at 360-757-1337 or email us at donations@yd.org and we will be happy to update your payment information for you.
Please note that if you wish to switch the payment method from a credit card to an ACH/direct debit you will not be able to do that in the Donor Portal. Please call our main office at 360-757-1337 or email us at donations@yd.org and we will be happy to switch payment methods for you.
What is the difference between using my debit card and an ACH/direct debit? Isn’t the money coming from the same account?
Yes, the money may be coming from the same account. The difference between using your debit card and an ACH is how the money is being processed. A third-party card processor processes a debit card and is subject to the same fees as any other type of card payment. An ACH is an electronic request that we make directly to your bank. The fee associated with an ACH is a fraction of the cost of using a debit card.
What is the processing fee for credit or debit cards?
The current processing fee for Visa, MasterCard, and Discover is 2.798% plus a $0.26 transaction fee. The fee for American Express is 3.798% plus a $0.26 transaction fee.
What is the processing fee for an ACH/direct debit?
The current processing fee for an ACH/direct debit transaction is 1% but is capped at $5. So, we will never pay more than $5 for an ACH transaction.
Can I choose to pay (or not pay) the processing fee to offset your expenses?
Yes, when you set up a donation from our website and check out, a pop-up box will appear for you to enter your payment information. At the bottom of the box is a small blue box with a white check mark inside next to the statement, “Cover the process fee so 100% of my donation goes to the organization.” When this blue box is checked, it means you are choosing to pay the processing fee associated with your gift.
Unfortunately, this option is not available in the Donor Portal.
What if I don’t want to pay the processing fee?
The process fee box is defaulted to be checked. If you do not want to offset the processing fees for your donation, simply click the blue box, and it will remove the check mark, and the box will be blank. Then, you will not be charged the processing fee.
What is a one-time gift and how do I set one up?
A one-time gift is any gift you set up that is processed immediately and only once.

Option #1 – Create an account to login to and manage your gift yourself. Learn how to set up a one-time gift in our new Donor Portal HERE.

Youth Dynamics
PO Box 486
