Mountains to Missions trips are four to seven day* trips that combine thrilling adventures with inner-city service work in downtown Portland. The result: heightened personal challenge, incredible group bonding, and the opportunity for sweet character transformation before your very eyes. Pick from one of three formats and “choose your own adventure.”
Your adventure options:
- River Adventure Program – Epic, remote whitewater rafting or inflatable kayaking with river-side camping
- Backpacking Trip – Challenging and priceless in regards to victories and views
- Rope, Rock, Raft – The ultimate trifecta of fun, with a day each on the high/low ropes challenge course, rock climbing, and rafting
Following your three days in God’s grand creation, we meet up with our ministry friends at BridgeTown Inc. in downtown Portland, where your group can expect to serve meals to the homeless, clean, paint, sort clothes, and engage in the kind of conversation that brings hope and life to those in need. As students visit worksites including the Salvation Army, Union Gospel Mission, Ronald McDonald House, Loaves and Fishes, and Portland Rescue Mission, they experience a life-changing effort to serve others in what Because People Matter calls a “relational approach” that includes foot-washing and more.
