Winter Adventures

Snowshoeing is the primary form of winter adventure we run out of our Oregon base, and there are many beautiful spaces to trek too! Snow skiing and snowboarding opportunities are offered as well. From stunning views to frozen lakes, out-of-the-way corners, and easy, popular trails, we have our pick of two different but equally stunning wonderlands of options. Ask us about snow caves and tim-tam slams for additional fun!

Mt. Hood (Mount Hood National Forest)

With snowy adventure options all over its slopes, Mt Hood is a treasure trove of winter activity options. Snowshoe in (and across) beautiful Trillium Lake, explore the curves and vistas of Boyscout Ridge, or trek into the winter wonderland of Tamanawas Falls. There are also several options for skiing/snowboarding, with slopes at Government Camp (SkiBowl and Summit), Timberline, and Meadows.

What am I responsible to bring?

Youth Dynamics will provide capable and experienced guides familiar with the trip and area, with equipment that is well maintained and necessary for your specific adventure. If we’re doing a snowshoe or skiing/snowboarding trip, then we’ll be making a stop to pick up rentals (which can include boots if needed).

Your group will receive a packing list, both to ensure you bring the necessities but also to be sure you don’t bring things that will just be in the way! If you have questions about your specific trip, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Where will we meet the Youth Dynamics staff?

Depending on the trails, we might meet you at the trailhead or parking area, or we may come up with a more convenient location. We’ll talk with you about the details of this during our planning call.

What does a typical day look like?

A typical day runs from about 9 am to 3:30 pm. We’ll meet at a predetermined location, get to the trailhead, do some adventuring and probably build a fire somewhere for a warm drink. The flow depends greatly on the group, the location, and the weather, but we’ll want to be off the trail and to the vehicles before dark unless we’re doing an overnight.

Our staff will equip and provide the essentials for your experience (e.g. gear, food, equipment, training, insurance) and will work with your group leader for programming and other logistical needs. In addition, our staff will provide the technical and professional skills needed to provide a safe and life-changing adventure.

Our goal is to assist you in providing a memorable experience for your group that has the opportunity to be life-transforming. Whether you are trying to create unity in your church youth group or build community in your school, group home, or youth-related organization—we are with you!

Let’s adventure together!
